Wild Animals

Monday, we had freak weather for February. It was partly sunny and 70 degrees. This, of course, necessitated a trip to the zoo. So we packed up our wild animals to go see their wild animals! Some of the smaller animals were not out because it was still too cool for them, but the larger animals were out and about. In fact, it was the most active I had ever seen them. The kids really got a good look at most of the animals. Usually it's a little difficult to point them out as they are hiding in some shade. Anyway, I took lots of pictures of our little wild things. Hope you enjoy.

This is Ellie watching the penguins. This was the only thing she really took notice of since she's too small to see most of it. She was absolutely taken by them. She kept pointing, squealing and saying "this," her word for anything she is interested in.

Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland!

This is kind of our kids' first snow. At least the first they remember and have gone out to play in. Tim kept Ellie inside while the others' and I went out. We didn't stay long due to 20 degree temps (and the fact that I still only have one glove...I do have the yarn now!). They had a great time though. Really tickled pink!Such a ham!

A Tale of Two Posts

Tim got me a fabulous new camera for Christmas. I have not used it enough, though. It's purple...how cool is my husband!!! Anyway, I've been trying to make up for my lack of pictures so today, there will be two posts, contain yourself Mom, of pictures. Enjoy!

the girl is having a serious bad hair day!

Lydia is trying to learn to dress herself--look closely!

I actually think that's pretty talented...let's just say I don't think I could get mine on backwards.

Procrastination

Through the Holiday season, I have found many things to pull my attention from the Blog. I wish I was one of those fabulously organized people, but God created me to be one of those easily distra--ooooh, what's that---ahem, I think I was saying something about wishing I was more organized. One of the many New Year's Resolutions that I have is becoming a "finisher." I often start projects and then find another project that is more appealing. For example. I wanted matching hat, gloves and scarf. I have finished the hat and one glove. Yep, just one. It was so tedious to knit the little fingers (and I need to buy another skein of yarn) that I am dreading knitting up the other glove. Tim says I should just keep one hand in my pocket, but really that skirts the real problem I need to finish it because the Bible says, whatever you find to do, do it well. I'm assuming that means finish it. Anyway, hopefully, this year I will be better about finishing projects and posting on my blog...we'll see. Here are some recent, you know, the last month or so, pictures...oh, and Ellie is walking, I mean running!

First Parade

Isabella was in her first parade yesterday. Her dance studio always participates in the "take Santa to the mall" parade. Here are few pictures of us walking and then just some random "round the house" pics. Enjoy!

The other night I realized I hadn't taken pictures in a while, so when the kids finished their bathes, I grabbed the camera. Well, I guess I didn't wait for Ellie to finish. The last one Isabella took. And one last fun picture from the parade: a tricked out car...it was really cool!

A Slight Misunderstanding

For centuries children have been misunderstanding the words of songs. There's the classic: "There's a bathroom on the right." And the unnumbered variations of the Star-Spangled Banner. Elijah is our singer. He loves to sing and sings constantly. He learns the songs that we hear on the radio. Some of his favorites right now are Slow Fade by Casting Crowns and Lose My Soul by Toby Mac and Kirk Franklin. The chorus of the latter makes reference to scripture in the line "I don't wanna gain the whole world and lose my soul." On the way home from Elijah's last soccer game, where he scored 2 goals!!!, we hear the song on the radio. After we came in while I was fixing lunch, Elijah was singing the song: I don't wanna gameboy to lose the store. I felt it was important to teach him the actual words and the meaning, but I'm not sure it's sunk in yet!
